Lara Croft Joins Call of Duty’s Battle Against War
The Call of Duty franchise is further embracing the trend set by Fortnite, as it reveals that the iconic character Lara Croft from Tomb Raider will be joining the roster of playable characters. Lara Croft will make her appearance in both Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare II, following the inclusion of real-life celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Kevin Durant, and several characters from the popular Prime Video series The Boys.
Publisher Activision hasn’t released details on how you’ll get Lara Croft on your side, though you’ll likely need to purchase some sort of bundle to access the famed ruin destroyer. For example, Minaj was available as part of the $10 Season 5 Battle Pack. Croft-related items, skins and weapons are also likely to be on sale, although her own twin pistols should be part of the original buy-in.
Additionally, the publisher has not announced when Croft will officially debut as a battle-tested fighter. There’s an update coming in the middle of Season 5, which would be as good a place as any to introduce the treasure hunter. ReturnByte asked Activision for clarification on pricing and availability.
In related news, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is fast approaching and will hit consoles in November. As for Croft, the last Tomb Raider game was 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Developer Crystal Dynamics, along with Amazon, announced in December that the new game is coming, and that it will be a “single-player, narrative-driven adventure” built using Unreal Engine 5. Amazon is also making a Tomb Raider TV. show, although who knows when it will premiere.
